1998.08.09 - The Prophecy - Formation Records Tour

Tape has been updated with Colin’s copy of the tape, long thought lost but recently re-discovered.  Colin’s tape appears to start right at the beginning of the Prophecy which was missing from our first upload, restoring 32 minutes of previously unheard music for jtapes.

It's the UK takeover! In the house are DJs SS, ShyFX and John B alongside MCs Navigator and Warren G from the Renegades party the previous night. I have the tape of the live sets of SS and Shy from that Renegades party and I also had a tape of this show myself back in 98. It was a copy that was from my Bro's collection however I only ended up keeping 1 side of his original tape and now even my copy has been lost along with his tape. Luckily thanks to Jennifer , we're able to bring you part of this show that she split across the B sides of 2 different tapes.

I was really struggling to come up with something to say about this show... Navigator has some great lyrics and he comes through super clear in the studio so you can really hear what he's saying. I don't think that we get to hear Warren G at all. The DJs are spinning the style of the times with a mix of some darker stuff along with some more upbeat tracks. We also miss out on John B entirely which I think my tape covered but yeah.

I think that time changes our perception of things.. I mean it's a big deal to have had the Formation crew in the house for a Prophecy show, but I really wasn't able to get that excited about it when listening to this show again. Perhaps it's less about the content of the show and more about where I'm coming from at this point. Please listen to the show and make up your own mind about it.
